A large front extension to a farmhouse within the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Mount Farm sits on a plateau with fantastic distant views over the Taunton Vale and Quantock Hills. Over its history a number of extensions had been added to the former traditional rubble stone cottage detracting from its simple and rural aesthetic and compromising the internal layout. The front extension seeks to harmonise the appearance and layout with a traditional design that reflects materials within the original cottage and a style that enhances the overall appearance of the farmhouse. Views are captured through a variety of windows hidden from the streetscene in a modest contemporary manner that compliments the traditional design.
